The latest BIOS update does NOT contain the full ROM and can only be flashed on top of an older BIOS ROM on a functional system. To recover a bricked BIOS ROM, you will need to flash one of the 8 MB ROM dumps as they were confirmed to work. Once the system is functional, you can update to the latest BIOS version if desired.

The Acer variant was used in some (not all) Veriton M200-H81 series systems and can likely be updated to the retail ECS BIOS, although this has not been confirmed. Try it at your own risk.
-
The Casper variant was used in some Haswell-based Nirvana Desktop systems (such as model CD.VTI4570B) and can be safely updated to the latest retail BIOS as it has been confirmed to work without any issues. This BIOS also brings some benefits such as support for Haswell Refresh CPUs, faster POST times and the option to enable the integrated graphics alongside the discrete GPU.
Miscellaneous
-
The back I/O can optionally have either an HDMI or a DVI port. Most boards have an HDMI port, although some variants (such as Casper) have DVI instead.
-
The audio chip can optionally be either VIA VT1705 or Realtek ALC662. The Casper variant often uses VT1705, unsure about retail or Acer.
