• More ports than controller supports

This card has more ports than the controlller chip(s) used can support.

Some ports share the same signals and can not be connected at the same time or all of the affected ports stop working,
most of the time nothing will break and disconnecting a device will make the other affected port work again.

Most of the time this issue shares an internal port and one of the external ports (first/last).

Only the internal or last external USB port can be active at a time making it effectively only a 4 port USB card
The internal ports are also connected to the internal headers
